Seared Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna Steak Recipe

Tuna is truly an amazing food with a number of features that contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Tuna is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, polyunsaturated, and was known to reduce the risk of heart disease. It is also low in fat and cholesterol in the blood which makes it a great alternative to beef. Not only is tuna a prominent status in nutrition, it is also one of the most important sources of protein, delicious lean would sink at any time before your teeth.

Tuna is also easy to cook. Hardy fish it holds together well on the grill, in the oven or on top of stove. The following recipe is one of my favorites and easy to prepare.

I made this dish special the other day, and was quite impressive. Cleaning my wife, who usually do not eat large portions of the plate it, and wants more, so that it is a very good sign.

Tuna steak you use really depends on how rare you like your tuna. Only you burning out your tuna steak, it will not be in the pan for too long. Even thicker steak, the more rare is the center.

I personally do not like my tuna very rare, so I usually make this recipe with thinner cuts of tuna. This is just a preference, not a requirement. Many people, including chefs say the only way to eat tuna is rare. I think you will have to be a judge.

Let us turn to the recipe shall we?

Sesame seared Ahi tuna coated with coriander, garlic and lime sauce ..

I would like to mention one thing before we begin this recipe. I do not follow exact measurements in recipes. I measure everything by eye, and therefore the following measurements are only to be used as a guide. So do not get mad at me also!

This is optional, but I would like to toast sesame seeds in dry pan first before I put them on the tuna. Seeds become nutty and aromatic when you toast them. It is highly recommended if you have the time and very easy to do. Simply heat a dry frying pan over medium heat, then add the seeds shaking the pan occasionally. You may have to do this in batches, depending on how many seeds you are toasting. You do not want to overcrowd the pan. Keep an eye on the seeds and make sure it does not burn. Toast them until darken slightly and begin to become fragrant. Remove and let them cool before adding it to tuna.

Ingredients:

1 / 4 cup black sesame seeds
1 / 4 cup white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon of sesame oil
2-6 ounce (ounce) ahi (yellow Finland) tuna steak
Salt and pepper to taste

Dipping sauce marinade /

1 / 2 cup low-sodium soy sauce (which requires sodium outside, is not it?)
1 lime (juice and enthusiasm - if you want more lemon flavor, add another)
1-2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of chopped fresh Cilantro leaves

1) Development marinade. Add all marinade ingredients into a small bowl and mix well. Reserve half of this marinade in a separate bowl to use the dipping sauce.

2) get the baking dish or other glass containers, but the response marinade the tuna in. You want tuna steaks to fit snuggly in the dish so that they are surrounded with a nice marinade. Pour marinade in a bowl and put tuna steaks in a kind of spiral marinade until you're on the coat fish well. Cover with some plastic wrap and refrigerate. Another option is to pour the marinade in a zip lock bag large, add the tuna, and then drain the air. Marinade for 30 minutes to an hour, turning the tuna about half way through.

3) Remove tuna from the refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 20 minutes or so.

4) Remove tuna from marinade, shaking off any excess marinade and dry on paper towels.

5) Heat a saute pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. It should be hot oil, but not smoking.

6) Although the pan and heating, arrange your sesame seeds on a saucer. Tuna roll around in the seeds pressing down as you roll to ensure that the seeds that were packed into the tuna nicely.

7) In addition to tuna hot saute pan and shake it slightly to make sure the tuna does not stick. Burned for 30 to 40 seconds on both sides.

8) Remove and serve with dipping sauce Reserved.

Side dishes with this recipe I usually keep things very nice and I do not want anything to compete with the flavors in the tuna. So I usually prepare a side of green beans steamed with a little butter and salt and pepper or other vegetables with some lightly seasoned jasmine or basmati rice.

There you have it. I hope you enjoy this Seared Sesame covered recipe ahi tuna. I have heard and I'm not a big drinker, but for those of you who like a glass or two with dinner, a nice Pinot Grigio goes very well with the tuna. Buon Appetito!
